Hi everyone,

From time to time i will post here in Agile IT Blog a silent installation commands and tricks that i found during my SCCM\MDT projects.

Today it will be a combination of a trick with the original and well-known silent command line for .net framework 4

as everyone of us would think, performing a quiet installation to such a natural MS package should be piece of cake,

The silent installation for DotNet Framework 4 can be accomplished regulary with the following command:

dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe /q /norestart

The problem here is that from some odd reason, this command does not run under MDT Task Sequence (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) fluently as we excpect to.

After troubleshooting that included Extracting, MSI Installation, different switches… i found that this command will only  work if we run it inside a cmd\BAT file.

all you need to do is to create a text file, put the command inside:

dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe /q /norestart

and save as CMD or BAT. (SCCM Users don’t forget to update the DP)

now in your SCCM\MDT Program, choose to execute this file instead of the command itself and enjoy the success  : )

Good night
