Open source object database for .NET (object-oriented database)

9 בדצמבר 2008

Hi,

I'm doing some research on Database and Entities. I tested a great object database for .NET and JAVA open source called db4object.

"db4o is the open source object database that enables Java and .NET developers to store and retrieve any application object with only one line of code, eliminating the need to predefine or maintain a separate, rigid data model".

  • Native to Java and .NET
  • 100% object-oriented database, no object-relational mapping
  • Designed for embedded use
  • Open source and free under the GPL

  • db4objects offers the following products:

What do you think? Cool haaaaaa

Did you like db4o? Besides other limitations, they have 3 or 4 different query approaches, and none of them is development-friendly.

There is another .NET object database called Eloquera (http://www.eloquera.com), which works in client/server mode, and supports SQL as its query language. Currently writing a small web app, and their db works like a charm.

You can also take a look at siaqodb ( http://siaqodb.com ). It has native LINQ query engine, is simple, fast and easy to use.
