Running WPF Application from a Console on a Different Thread

27 בינואר 2011

I was asked if it is possible to run a WPF application from a Console Application project. The “Problem” is that WPF requires an STA (Single Thread Application) and if we try to open it from a ThreadStart() Method we will get an Exception. The Solution is simple: class Program   {     static void Main(string args)     {       Thread t = new Thread(Start_Wpf); ...

Introduction to Silverlight and WCF RIA – Tutorial Part 7 – Automatic Code Generation (From DomainService to DomainContext)

31 באוקטובר 2010

In my Previous Post I showed the “Rules and Conventions” of writing Queries on the DomainService (Server Side). In this post I will show what happens on the client side when we build our project. Lets start by adding a simple CLR based Entity on the server: public class SimpleCLREntity { public Guid UID { get; set; } public int Counter { get; set; } ...

Introduction to Silverlight and WCF RIA – Tutorial Part 6 – Domain Querying Rules and Conventions

When we write a DomainService on the server side we need to follow the following rules : 1.The Method must Be Public. 2.The method must return one of the following types:    A Model (one of our defined classes/Entities)    IEnumarable<Model>    IQueryable<Model> public IQueryable<Product> GetProducts() { return this.ObjectContext.Products.OrderBy(P => P.ProductID); } public Product GetProductByProductID(int ProductId) { return this.ObjectContext.Products.FirstOrDefault(P => ...

Introduction to Silverlight and WCF RIA – Tutorial Part 5 – Custom Validation using Data-Annotations

2 באוקטובר 2010

In My Previous post I demonstrated the Master-Detail In Silverlight and the default validation that comes with the DataForm control. If we want to use the Data-Annotation feature we need to do the following: Find the Auto-Generated XXXXService.Metadata.cs File. In out case it is the ProductsService.Metadata.cs File.   For this demo lets create a Range Rule for the ProductPrice Property and decide it can contain a Range of 0 to 1500. So we use the Data Annotation Attribute like this: Now compile and run the application, If we write a bad...

Introduction to Silverlight and WCF RIA – Tutorial Part 4 – Simple Master-Detail Scenario

In my earlier Posts I demonstrated 3 steps in building a Silverlight application using WCF RIA Services: Step 1 – Setting The Silverlight Site. Step 2 – Displaying Data. Step 3 – Using The Domain Data Source. In this post I will “Upgrade” step 3 DataGrid to display a Master-Detail on the DataForm Control. To get started I added the relevant NameSpace: xmlns:DataFormControl="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Data.DataForm.Toolkit" After that it is very simple: We add the DataForm Control, and we define the edit template for the “Product”. Make sure to define a TwoWay Binding...
