This simple Outlook 2003 Addin allows to create, view and edit Team System work items from Outlook. Unlike TeamLook, it is not a commercial product, but we are using it on many sites for quite some time, and now decided to share it. A lot of thank coming to Nir Kovalio for actually doing most of the work.

Known issues:

  • While installing, the installer try to add a security access code to the working folder.
If you got an error message, you can add it manually:
    %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CasPol.exe -machine -addgroup All_Code -url c:\ Program Files\SRL Group\TFSOutlookAddin/* FullTrust -n "TFS outlook Addin"
Make sure to you pass the actual path to TFSOutlookAddin directory

I am getting an error when installing. Have you seen this before? "Unable to get installer types in the c:\program files\srl group\TFSOutlookAddin\TfsOutlookAddin.dll assembly. --> Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information."

Has anyone been able to get this to install on a machine that didn't already have Visual Studio on it? I can't get it to install on any of our non-dev machines.

I'm unable to show custom controls for a selected work item. Is this a known limitation or do I need to do something extra to make it work.

Why is there no option to ATTACH the email to an existing work item? that seems to be the second most common thing anyone would want to do, right after creating a new one, which you seem to have covered. Please add this functionality, then this addin would be great!

Installs just fine, but Outlook will not load the addin. An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.FileNotFoundException' occurred in System.dll Additional information: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I have the office interop binaries installed. Any clues?

I'm having a similar problem to the one Michael has. When I enable the addin and restart Outlook 2003 I get an exception thrown. The debug info states that it's a "File Not Found" exception. I've tried installing the addin the default directory and in "C:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\vsto" - and even in a TFS subdirectory under that. I've also tried adding the addin manually via the dialog in "Tools-Options-Other-Advanced-COM Addins" but it isn't recognised as an addin. Any suggestions?

hey, it's really alot of work you have put in developing this and cheers to you. I have a very simple question and that is, how do i manually specify the username and password to use when connecting to the TFS server manually. As we dont have the server in the active directory. Thanks in advance
