SCCM2012 Tools : Client Context Menu Tools

04/07/2012

Recently I was asked to adjust my Client Right Click Tools to the new SCCM version (System Center Configuration Manager 2012), quite a challenge, but I decided to give it a try. I downloaded the new ConfigMgr 2012 SDK , a very good resource I must add, and started to readסמיילי. I had to make some interface changes as well as scripting code adjustments:

  • The tools can be reached from the ribbon and/or from the context menu:

  • Selecting a device in a collection invokes the SCCM Tools ribbon

  • The old report mechanism was removed, and the SQL report server took it’s place, so reports looks a bit differentחיוך קורץ. The advertisement reports were renamed to deployment Reports:

  • I’ve added a new setup page – “report server settings”, which enables you to enter your reporter details:

    • The console automatically recognized the site server name, so if your report server is the site server you do not have to fill in its name
    • The default port is 80
  • The trace32 tool was replaced by CMTrace.exe.
  • For more information about these tools read the following post – SCCM 2007 Client Right Click Tools

I was wondering maybe in the future if there might be some different type of support for machines in different forests or how i might get that to work. the older 2007 version was standalone and i could run it as an account in that forest and connect that way to those machines. currently i try it and get cant connect to WMI name space or cant find sccm client service on the machine.

How/what to change when using a instance of sql/reporting server SERVER\ReportServer_SCCM for URL?
The client reports have a lot of links with invalid url/reports in SCCM 2012.

    Great tool!

    Hi Andres

I changed the setup program, now you can specify the reports server virtual directory name.
Download the setup file from the following URL:
    http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/doli/DownloadFiles/SCCMClientlToolsSetup2012_1.2.zip
Please let me know if it helped.

Great tool… Any plans to update for 2012 SP1. Looks like a lot of the client action scripts won’t work with Win8/Server2012. Thanks!

    Hi Dolav

I’ve got the toosl installed at home and at work. On all the systems I use as primary, it’s working fine. I have some helpdesk folks who can’t get the tools to work. Is there anything I can look at to troubleshoot?
