Hotfix KB2550886 may need to be install on a Windows 2008 R2 Server before applying Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3. As you can see in the following screenshot, hotfix KB2550886 is reported as prerequisite for Exchange 2010 Mailbox Role upgrade. The Migration mythology that should be use for migrating Exchange 2010 SP3 Public Folders to Exchange 2013 environment is new. Due this, its highly recommended to read Microsoft official documentation: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486.aspx Moreover, due the Exchange & Active Directory Site & Services architecture, I would recommended to use a full lab environment to simulate that impact of the migration on the customer environment.
