Have you ever had the feeling that your computer doesn’t understand what you are saying? All day long, we are interacting with each other, a well known phenomenon called “talking”, while at the same time, communication with a computer requires the physical use of mouse & keyboard.

Speech Technologies can change the way your customers interact with your applications.In this session we will demonstrate how to use, abuse, and exploit, Speech Technology that comes with the .Net 3.0 Framework. We will see how Vista’s “Speech Enabled Shell” allows users to fully interact with their Vista without having to use a mouse & a keyboard. We will “hear” how can we detect different speech patterns using Grammar objects to define phrases and keywords. We will see how easy it is to wire up the Speech Recognition Engine to Workflow and WPF applications.

At the end of the session you will know how to integrate Speech Recognition in your applications and how to mimic real-life conversation scenarios. You will know what functionality does System.Speech namespace has to offer and what additional functionality is available for the native and managed developer through the Speech SDKs. We will cover new problems that arise when using Speech Technologies and discuss different approaches to deal with them.
