Excellent post. I was able to load the data from my Oracle source into a SQL Server OLE DB Destination.

I was still getting an error due to truncation, so I also set Error Output to ignore failure for all.

There was an issue with large numbers of partitions (1000+) on 2005 that I believe got fixed in 2008, which meant SSAS would regularly freeze while a particular file got loaded into memory. But without knowing more about the database design, the queries and looking at some Profiler traces it's impossible to say what's really wrong here...

I grew-up to be an SQL Server DBA from the very base... mastered the internals of IBM DB2 on MVS OS/3900 system. After my sight degraded from 6/6 to black/green I upgraded my skils to Oracle 8.1.7 and it's many many fix packs... After completly losing patiance executing "commit" after every command line I found my peace in SQL Server 2000. This was around the year 2003-2004...

The rest is history
