If you are having problems with your clients not showing in the WSUS Console please follow these steps. Please note these steps will only work if you are working in an organisation where the clients have all been cloned.

Go to the client machine and do the following.

1. Start - Run - and type in net stop wuauserv

2. Start - Run - and type in regedit

3.Click on HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate then delete the SusClientId

then click on Auto Update and locate and delete the following keys: LastWaitTimeout, DetectionStartTime, NextDetectionTime. Once these are all deleted close all windows and do the next step.

4. Start - Run - and type in net start wuauserv

I find it helps giving the machine a reboot.

Then return to your WSUS Console and refresh and the clients should start showing up, i have found that sometimes they appear straight away but other times they may take a few minutes.

Good Luck

There are plenty of others out there:

www.google.com

This might help with the events you would want to look for: technet.microsoft.com/.../bb643195.aspx

Realtime protection (malware activity) would be 3004, 3005, and 3006.

I'll stop babbling now :-)

Since alerting happens on the FCS Collection server (i.e. MOM), the comment about a FCS SERVER installation including MOM is accurate and extremely helpful.

MsiExec.exe /norestart /q/x {3BAB4914-9CC1-4CC2-A3DA-56EF62DFD373} REMOVE=ALL

This uninstalls no problem but when I go to install Forefront, it bombs out. I even tried to put in a restart after the Symantec removal, but no go. It reboots into PE, but still bombs with same error. I created the package with the following command line:

clientsetup.exe /CG ForefrontClientSecurity /MS forefront.ourdomain.com

We have an OU created as "Forefront" under our current OU that gets updates. We only allow the software to be installed if the system is in that OU. I still can't get it to go. Any suggestions out there?

Thanks!
