Error when trying to export queries to Excel

Some users try to open work item queries in excel but get this error message:

"TF80042: The document cannot be opened because you do not have Microsoft Excel 2003 or later, or one of its components installed. For more information, see the Team Foundation Installation Guide."

To solve this problem In Excel 2007 (or any other MS Office 2007 application) you need to perform the following steps:
1. Close Visual Studio.

2. In Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs locate your Office application (in this case: 'MS Office Professional Plus 2007'), select it and click on the 'Change' button.

3. Select 'Add or Remove features' and click 'Continue'.

4. In the tree view, expand 'Microsoft Office Excel' (or any other MS office 2007 application needed) and set the .NET Programmability Support option to 'run from my computer'.

5. Click 'update'.

6. Start Visual Studio and try again.

To solve this problem In Excel 2003 you need to perform the following steps:
These errors are caused when you install Team Explorer before you install Excel. The Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Run Time will not be configured to work correctly with Team Explorer and must be repaired:

1. Close Visual Studio.

2. In Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs select ‘Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Run Time’ and Click ‘Change/Remove’.

3. In the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Run Time Setup wizard, click ‘Repair’, and then click ‘Next’.

4. Start Visual Studio and try again.

* If the problem still persists, reinstall Team Explorer.
