TFS Permission Manager 1.0 is Finally out

Working with Team Foundation Server we have to perform various repeating task related to user declaration and permission setting. I already wrote about TFS permission and tools. Managing permissions is complicated, and from time to time quite frustrating.  I've decided that it would be a better use of my time to assemble such a tool than just manually applying permissions again and again...

Using this tool you can:

  • Add or remove TFS group membership, Reporting Services role membership and SharePoint role membership
  • Set Server and Project-level permissions
  • Set AreaPath and Source Control permissions
  • Create new TFS users with permissions identical to those of specified existing user
  • Save user permissions as template and use it later to create new or update existing users.

TFS Permission Manager v1.0 is finally out. You can download it from here. I hope this utility will be useful.

As usual, I'll be happy to get any feedback.

Great tool, but it would nice if we could also manage active directory groups (unless I am mistaken, you can only manage users). Note: I initial put this comment in the download page.

Thanks Bertrand!

You cannot associate active directory group with Team System, only single user. On the other hand, managing TFS groups is something I am definitely planning to add.

Very nice application. Is the source code available? I would love to use it, but our company will not allow it for security reasons unless the source code is available. I guess they are paranoid of the possibility of hooks into our code base.

TFS Event Handler project now available on CodePlex: http://www.codeplex.com/TFSEventHandler

This is a service based system with a front-end allowing the dynamic addition of event handlers for Team System. Users can upload their own custom Handlers as part of an assembly which are then loaded and executed on the server. This application runs in conjunction with TFS (Team Foundation Server) and handles all of the events that are generated by the server.
