Content Deployment Tips

Hi there, I've just finished a project where, among other things, Content Deployment is used to transfer content from an authoring environment to a production environment. I wanted to share some of the insights that I gained. In order to ensure that Content Deployment works with as few problems as possible, the following must be ensured: * Date & Time of the servers participating in the process must be the same (Source & Target servers) * The version of the server OS's need to be the same as well. * The SharePoint version must be the same (including updates & Service Packs & Language Packs). * Solutions on the participating servers need to be the same as well (Web Parts, Features, etc') * IIS configuration should be identical as well. Before performing the above, we ran into several errors and problems and only after ensuring that the configuration above was performed were we able move forward and continue with the configuration of Content Deployment, which performed beautifully. כמה זמן לא הייתי בבלוג שלי..

היו לי בעיות login אבל בסוף הכל נפתר.

השדרוג מהפוסט הקודם עבר חלק ואני שמח להגיד שהשדרוגים עוברים הרבה יותר בקלות מגרסאות קודמות של המערכת.

הפעם רציתי לספר לכם על ועידת ניהול ידע ומסמכים שהתקיים ברביעי שעבר (9.3.2011). הועידה גם נקראת הכנס המקצועי ה-8 לניהול ידע ומסמכים.

הועידה התקיימה במתחם האירועים XANADU פתח תקווה והייתה ממש מעניינת.

הועברו שם הרצאות במגוון נושאים הקשורים לניהול ידע וניהול מסמכים, היו שם ביתנים של חברות שונות שהציגו את השרותים או הטכנולוגיות שלהם בתחום.

בשל התמחותי במערכות SharePoint, נושא ניהול הידע מאוד קרוב אליי ואני מתעתד ללמוד את הנושא בתואר השני שלי, סמסטר הבא, בשאיפה.

אני העברתי הרצאה אודות הכלים החברתיים הקיימים ב SharePoint, קראתי להרצאה - כלים לניהול ידע אפקטיבי באמצעות SharePoint 2010.

יש מגמה בתחום ניהול הידע בעולם שבה ניתן לראות מעבר מניהול הידע המסורתי, שבו הידע והמידע שמורים במיקומים מסודרים, ישנם תהליכים מאוד ברורים לשמירה וניהול של הידע והכל עובד או בשיטת Top-Down או Bottom-Up.

המגמה החדשה הינה נגזרת של החדירה העוצמתית של רשתות חברתיות לחיינו. ניהול הידע הופך ל - Collaboration = שיתוף הידע.

מנהלי הידע הם בעצם העובדים עצמם שמשתפים את הידע.

אתגרי ניהול הידע לא השתנו - ידע היושב במספר מערכות, כמויות אדירות שלא ברור כיצד לעבוד איתם, אובדן ידע וכד'

כלים רבים במערכת כמו בלוגים, וויקי, פורומים (Discussion Boards), תגיות, הערות, פרופילי משתמש וכמובן הפייסבוק הארגוני - MySites, נותנים מענה לאתגרים הללו.

על מנת לשמור על סדר, ישנם מספר יכולות וכלים כגון ה Content Organizer, Document ID's, Document Sets, וכמובן ה BCS, שמאגד את הגישה למערכות ומסדי הנתונים המבוזרים. 

אתם מוזמנים לפנות ולדבר איתי על הנושא - SharePoint זו תשתית מדהימה לניהול ידע ולרשת חברתית ארגונית (בין היתר..:))

Well, it's that time...to make the move to 2010...:)

We have a MOSS 2007 environment in our organization. internally, I don't believe it's used enough, but maybe that's because I'm an SP freak..:) (i keep trying to implement more forms, workflows, and additional features..heh heh heh)

Externally, MOSS 2007 hosts our company website. a lot of you probably have been overjoyed that SP 2010 has all the new capabilities that we all felt were missing in 2007. (at least all the SP junkies i've spoken to)

An extremely robust search engine with many many juicy possibilities.

easy to edit and manage websites and pages

multibrowser support and more..:)

i am preparing a virtual environment in which i'm going to perform 2 different things - migration and upgrade, one on each of 2 VM's

according to the IT Evaluation Guide for SP 2010, both are supposed to be relatively easy, and that's exactly what i'm going to check.

next time, i'll tell you the results, and my step-by-step (hopefully with screenshots)

SharePoint 2010 Overview Convention

Hi there everyone, welcome to my new blog, centered on SP 2010.

i'm happy to tell you that the convention we had last week was a success.

i told the participants about the new features of SP 2010 and the feedback was quite good..:)

thanks to everyone for being there and helping to make the event a success..:)

i will be adding pics from the event soon.

i also added the presentations for your use.
