Forefront Threat Management Gateway (ISA Server) Beta 3 – Ready for Download!
Wednesday, July 08, 2009 3:37 PM

Hello world,

For everyone waited...

Beta 3 – the last planned beta –
is now available to the public for download and evaluation: Download Here

This marks a big step towards providing a complete Web security solution with the first public preview of Microsoft URL filtering capabilities.

Two questions and answers from the Forefront team:

So, what makes our URL filtering special? For most companies, there is a physical limit on URL categorization and coverage because it is a manual process.  Forefront TMG is leveraging the Microsoft Reputation Services to expand beyond what one company can provide.  Instead, MRS aggregates URLs from multiple sources – including but not limited to iFilter, BrightCloud and Marshall8e6 – and determines which is most accurate for categorization.  This gives Forefront TMG customers access to URLs from multiple trusted sources but also gives them confidence that the URLs will be accurate categorized.  This enables Forefront TMG to expand well beyond where it could if Microsoft only developed its own URL data set, not unlike the added protection benefits of Forefront Security with multiple AV engines.

Why do you want Forefront TMG if you already have URL filtering? Most companies today have some sort of URL filtering.  It may be a standalone product plugged into ISA or into a firewall or come as part of a unified threat management product.  These solutions represent a compromise.  With the first, you give up simplicity of a single vendor solution.  With the second, you give up the richness you get from most standalone URL filtering products.

 And...

Check this out:

"We will begin the release of the “Stirling” security suite with the delivery of Forefront Server Security for Exchange and Threat Management Gateway (the next generation of ISA Server) in the fourth quarter of 2009. " (Forefront Team)

Enjoy...

Windows 2008 Hyper-V STOP 0x0000001A
Friday, July 03, 2009 4:44 PM

 Hi Again!

Yesterday I installed a new Hyper-V enviroment in one of my clients 2008 infrastructure,

Part of the configuration was Hyper-V failover cluster.

And not in the first time i  "Bump into" the "STOP 0x0000001A" error after an unexpected restart.

So... what happend???

This problem occurs when a Hyper-V component (Vid.sys) incorrectly unmaps some pages in the address space for the system process even though these pages were not mapped. This behavior corrupts the address space for the system process. When other programs or services try to access the corrupted address space, a Stop error is triggered. (From Microsoft KB 957967)

In the first time i bump into it i just installed the fix from Here

But, as you can see in the link, to resolve this problem (and more), please obtain the latest service pack for Windows Server 2008.

Here you can find  How to obtain the latest service pack for Windows Server 2008
