About a week ago I've participated in the first meeting of ALT.NET Tools session in Israel, the session was pure fun, we grouped together a bunch of geeks in one conference room to speak about tooling that can make developer’s live easier. We had several interesting sessions over the meeting with lots of cool tools… some common ones and some are products of newly startup companies. By the middle of the meeting we had lots of pizzas in complementary from our host Delver or by its new name Sears...
Last Wednesday we celebrated a year of community work with the Ness Tziona Usergroup ! The meeting which included a lecture by Pavel about What’s new in C# 4.0 & Visual Studio 2010 grouped together more than 100 attendees who enjoyed a great lecture, 2 cakes, lots of pizza slices, balloon and a handful of books that were given over the presentation. The Ness Tziona Usergroup is celebrating 1 year of work on Wednesday the 18th ! During the upcoming meeting we will have a session with Pavel about what is new in C# 4.0 ad Visual Studio 2010 – this session will be similar to the session that was delivered in Microsoft some time ago with some tweaks here and there, the session will also include a birthday party to group with lots of surprises. You are not required to bring a present in order to take a part in the birthday part :-) You are welcome...
ביום רביעי הקרוב 10.6.2009 יתקיים מפגש נוסף של קהילת נס ציונה והפעם המפגש יתקיים במשרדי חברת HP Indigo בפארק המדע בנס ציונה. נושא המפגש הפעם: איתור תקלות במערכות תכנה בתנאי שטח ומה צריך לעשות בתכנה כדי שיהיה קל יותר לאתר בה תקלות בתנאי שטח. בשלב ראשון נציג מה האילוצים שהשטח כופה על מי שבא לאתר תקלה בתכנה. החל מזה שבסביבת הייצור לא מותקן Visual Studio וכלה בזה שמנהל ה IT שונא מפתחים (ויש לו סיבות טובות לכך). לאחר מכן נציג טכניקות שונות שעונות על האילוצים הללו וניתנות ליישום בתנאי שטח. נדון קצת ב Debugging...
So I’ve attended the 2nd ALT.NET conference in Israel and I took my video cam with me… although its a HD Cam (SONY HDR-SR7) i could not find a place to host the HD videos in and had to downgrade them to WMV to be able to upload them to YouTube. (don’t mention MS Silverlight streaming as it has a problem with files larger then 100meg ! – can you make a 1hr or HD movie smaller then 100meg ? I DONT THINK SO !) Update: Due to youtube 10min limitation… the movies had been rejected… moving to another...
The Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF) is a new library in .NET that enables greater reuse of applications and components. GAT/GAX the Guidance Automation Toolkit/Extensions are hard to remove once you have them installed, following is a procedure I am using in order to migrate the GAT/GAX. Make a copy of C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Recipe Framework\ReceipeFramework.xml Edit the ReceipeFramework.xml and remove the tags inside the <GuidancePackages> key. Unity, the next object builder, had been released yesterday to the wild ! During the preparation for TechEd's Prism deck I've got into core relationship with this new DI Container from Microsoft. One of the patterns which are the basis of Prism is Dependency Injection and as such Prism is designed to use a facade which will enable us to choose our own preferred DI container.
