Microsoft has officially revealed today the availability of the tech beta of Office at the company’s Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC)
Microsoft also announced her official Office 2010 technical preview web site, which includes new series of videos describing the new features http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010
The conference brings new information about the upcoming products:
- Office 2010 Client Applications
- Ribbon build into all of office client apps
- 64 bit support!
- Will come in 5 versions: Office Professional Plus, Professional, Home and Business, Standard, Home and Student.
- Bunch of capabilities (outs pace, advanced picture editing etc,)
- SharePoint Workspaces 2010 (known as Groove 2007) is a new tool for online and offline editing to all SharePoint content. Moreover, it has such features like:
- Synchronize SharePoint libraries, lists, documents and wikis between client and server with just a few clicks
- Working on documents and forms offline, and then automatically synchronize them when coming back online.
- Office Sever Applications
These applications will cone available to select testers this week invitation-only tech previews of Visio 2010, Project 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010.
Moreover, a good source in Microsoft said that the public beta version of SharePoint will be available very soon (maybe in this month?)
- Office Web Apps
The web versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote — is slated to be available to select testers sometime in August. The good news is that it will come with SharePoint2010 combined and brings a seamless document editing experience.
