 shabak

מוכר למישהו? גם לנו זה היה מוכר. בדיקה פשוטה בקוד המקור של הדף (View Source) אימתה את הקונספירציה:
 Generator = SharePoint

Bottom line: Be very careful installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 on a machine that works with custom InfoPath solutions.

One of my clients has a customized InfoPath 2007 (Not browser enabled) form, that recently went into production.
As it was exposed to a lot more users, each running a different environment configuration, we began to receive complains from people who can't use the form.

They were getting the following error message:
Infopath cannot submit the form

Because we know the form DOES work on some computers and doesn't on others, it clearly wasn't a problem with the form itself.

We noticed that the computers how can't use the form has .NET Framework 3.5 installed. We also found some evidence in the web about this issue. I decided to prove the case:

  1. Have an InfoPath 2007 form, that includes some code in it.
  2. Start with a computer that has InfoPath 2007 installed with Programmability Support and .NET Framework 2.0. The form works as expected.
  3. Install .NET Framework 3.0. The form works as expected.
  4. Install .NET Framework 3.5. The form DOES NOT work, you get the error above.

I think that what causes problems is some kinds of XML handling methods via code.

Solution:
It's not super intelligent, but it makes sense.. at least until we will get some official answers:
You'll need to reinstall .NET Framework 2.0. In order to do this, you'll have to uninstall all later versions - 3.0 and 3.5.

If you have any updates, please let me know.

Error Message text for search engines:
InfoPath cannot submit the form. TheOnSubmitRequest event handler did not work.

iphoneSLJust came back from Tech Ed Eilat, where I attended a session about Silverlight 2.0 by Laurence Moroney, Sr. Tech Evangelist at Microsoft.

Overall it was a nice lecture, at the end there was some Q&A time so I hit Laurence with the big question: What about Silverlight support for iPhone???

What Laurence told me, is that there are some technological issues, mainly because iPhone currently runs on AMR processor. This will also require tight cooperation with Apple's development team.
But tech stuff aside, this firstly has to be solved in the executive level. Does Apple or Microsoft wants to have this? Laurence can tell that Microsoft is indeed interested and that the tow companies are investigating this issue.

To conclude:
The bad news - There might be a technological boundary, Apple's side in the game is unclear.
The good news - Microsoft DOES want to integrate Silverlight into the iPhone.

טוב.. אז כנס Guitar Hero, אילת 2008 שהתקיים בחסות מיקרוסופט הסתיים... היה כיף לא?

WELL.... I was quite busy lately, and it shows by my lousy posts count.
Anyway, I too was fortunate enough to be invited by Microsoft to Tech Ed 2008 (Thanks guys!), And you to are invited to meet me at Eilat.

So click here to schedule a meeting with me (איתי שקורי, Itay Shakury) if you are interested in:

  • SharePoint! (WSS, MOSS, Whatever..)
  • iPhone :)
  • me :-O
  • Segway ?? (keep reading)

Advantech, The company I work for, has rented some Segways for us to play with between lectures. So if you still can't find a good reason to meet me, just come and ask for a ride!

BTW, Posts from now till the end of next week will be all about Tech Ed, and probably in Hebrew.
