Microsoft MVP for the Second Time A few minutes ago I got the mail from Microsoft that informed me that I’m a Microsoft MVP for the second time. The mail is written as follows: “Congratulations! We are pleased to present you with the 2010 Microsoft® MVP Award! This award is given to exceptional technical community leaders who actively share their high quality, real world expertise with others. We appreciate your outstanding contributions in Data Platform Development technical communities during the...
Why I Became a .Net Developer? I’m being asked from time to time why I’ve chosen to work with .Net framework and in Microsoft world. Today I got that question again so I thought it will be nice to share the answer with my Blog readers. In my early days when I was a computer science student I started my first steps in development world with the Java language. At the end of my first year I took a summer course in .Net in order to learn what it was all about. To tell the truth, I wasn’t impressed by...
The Customer is Always Right One part of my job is consulting in a lot of .Net development areas. One of the annoying things that you have when you are technology consultant is that customers think that they can demand from you almost everything (even things that aren’t part of your job role). The problem with these thoughts is that if you don’t give them the things they want they can go to your boss and complain. That means that you’ll have to answer to whoever is paying your salary about things...
My Article on This Week On Channel 9 Show I got an email yesterday from Guy Burstein that pointed me to the “ This week On Channel 9 ” show which includes a reference to one of the articles I published in The Code Project site. The article “ How To Use Unity Container In ASP.NET MVC Framework ” explains how to use Unity IoC container inside an ASP.NET MVC application. You can see the show here . They mention the article about 09:28 minutes after the show starts. Very flattering. CodeProject
The Need for Source Control Last week I’ve been at a customer. The problem – non responsive UI since all the application run on the UI thread. So I took a look at the code and… I don’t like to tell about the horrible code I saw but to share a very painful problem I have seen. Even though source control systems are very common, there are customers that can make you “shout” at them when you come to a consulting session. In this customer controlling your sources in a repository tool like TFS,...
FeedBurner Counter Hiccups I’m using the FeedBurner counter in my blog from day one in order to see how many readers I have in my blog. Using the service I could see that during time the amount of readers in my blog started to grow. In the last couple of weeks I could see some counter hiccups. One day I had above 400 readers and in the next day all the readers that are registered with Google Feedfetcher suddenly disappeared and the counter dropped to 200 readers. This behavior was written in the...
DevAcademy4 Has Left the Building Today I attended the DevAcademy4 conference. The day started for me at 0700 when all the lecturers for the conference got together for a morning briefing. After that I went to a nice breakfast which was served in the Avenue hall for all the attendees. After the keynotes session which was great and included a laptop giveaway for one of the attendees, I went to prepare for my session about Entity Framework Evolution in .Net Framework 4 . In that point I want to thank...
MIX10 – Summary Home sweet home! I arrived today back to Israel after a trip of six days to the MIX10 conference (three days conference and almost three days “on the roads”). To tell the truth, I was a little disappointed from the conference. I’ve expected more relevant information and less recycling of things that I already know. As you know (if you followed the MIX10 ), there were announcements about Windows Phone 7 , Silverlight 4 , OData protocol, IE9 and more. After being at the conference and...
EF Evolution in .Net Framework 4 On next Monday I’m going to give a session about EF4 in the DevAcademy4 conference. The session will provide you details about why you will want EF in your application, which development approaches EF provides and how to apply them and the major tooling and functionality enhancements. If you are interested in the subject go to the DevAcademy4 web site for more details. Meet you there!
MIX10 – Second Day Wrap up This is the wrapping up of the second day I had in the MIX10 conference . In the keynotes Dean Hachamovitch talked about IE9 and how it will support HTML5 standard. There will be a lot of improvements in IE9 which include: performance, standards support, GPU powered HTML5 , an IE9 platform and the punch line hardware accelerated HTML5 video. After Dean Scott Guthrie talked about the Microsoft web platform which include a lot of enhancements and there were demos of VS2010...
MIX 10 – First Day Wrap up As I wrote earlier this week I’m attending the MIX conference at Las Vegas. This is a summary of the first day I had in the conference. The day started with a keynote session by Scott Guthrie . The keynotes included information about Silverlight 4 , Windows Phone 7 and more. Lots of cool demos and exciting news for web developers. After the keynote I went to the Building Offline/Cache mode web Apps using Sync Framework session with Mike Clark . The news here are the OData...

Father for the Second Time This is not my usual technical blog posts. Somebody asked me today where I’ve been in the last two weeks. The answer is in the title :-) My wife gave birth to my second child, Eyal, almost two weeks ago. I took a small vacation in order to help my wife in the first days of the maternity leave. Microsoft MVP Award Today I’ve started a new journey. I have the honor to be awarded Microsoft MVP . My old journey started over two years ago when my former manager in SRL Group, Maor David , convinced me to open a Blog in the Microsoft Israeli blogs system . I want to thank the following people that helped me on the way to this achievement: First of all to Maor my mentor...
