Summarizing the SOA and S+S Track in Tech-Ed
Wow, this was a great Tech-Ed. In the last two months, I've been working with each and every one of the speakers to make their session become a blast. I have seen some of the speakers for more than 5 reviews and the results were just great. The track started with a 15 minutes opening where I covered the why and the what behind SOA and S+S, the current and future Microsoft solution portfolio and finally the teaser to the track sessions. Later on the first day,we've had an overview of the SOA...

Did you attend the latest SOA Events in Microsoft Israel?
During the last months, we have been doing quite a few events for customers and partners that want to learn more on Microsoft and SOA. The SOA Round Tables No, it is not King Arthur's round table meetings. Nevertheless, it is a recurring 4-hour event that we drive here in Microsoft for specific vertical markets (Government, Defense, Hi-Tech, Healthcare and more). The round table is intended for a small group of 10-15 people (This is why it is a round table and not an auditorium) who want to influence...

Is S+S the next version of SOA?
Yes, No, Maybe. S+S, Software + Services, has many flavors and forms depending on who is asking. Most times it is the ability to use both on-premise software (inside the organization) and out-reach services from the Internet. One of the scenarios where S+S is also relevant is an organization that uses both internal services and also external services in a single business process. For example, if we want to discharge a patient from a hospital, we can say that the process uses the following services...

The 6 (not 3) steps of the Middle-Out Approach to make SOA happen
I know what you are saying. The Middle-Out Approach for SOA has 3 steps in a cycle or at least this was the way it was presented up until now: Expose, Compose and Consume which is applied for every business drive we decide to deal with. However, if we drill down we see that we need 6 steps from which expose is divided into 4 sub-steps of Expose: Find the relevant functionalities that are reusable and will participate in the later compose stage for this business drive. This is a place where an architect...

Gaining more from a SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) implementation in your organizations
I have recently published an article in the Israeli Public Sector Newsletter. The main idea I was interviewed about was the current hot trend of SOA . Today SOA is discussed not only by IT mangaers, but also by the CxO level of organizations. Organizations are now realizing that they need to have a flexible IT infrastructure in order to enable changes in the organzations and become more agile. The reason that becoming agile is of interest to CxOs is that it means reducing costs and answering market...
