Oh and btw I also find it stange that Microsoft Israel are trying to get the word about XNA out there on TechEd Eilat but are not doing anything to support the main gaming platform XNA is aimed for - casual gaming via Xbox Live.

Of course it'll always cost more here.

However, I would gladly pay an extra sum and buy it Israel rather than carry the thing on my back all the way from Seattle (damn, its heavy), getting it through all the security checks, smuggle it through customs... and then get a huge expensive coltage converter so I could hook the thing in...

I Zapped for Xbox elite and found out it costs 3700-4200nis in Israel compared to ~1700nis ($450) in the US. A decent game (like Halo 3) costs between 300-949 (?!@) comapred to 200nis at most ($50).

Zapping for Vista that are more similiar to the cost in the US.

Conclusion? console prices can be sane... even in Israel...

At the very least Microsoft should support customers who were willing to pay such insane prices and want to spend more via Xbox Live :)

Ariel, what I said was that live blogging isn't interesting in most cases.

Surely you're not comparing Scoble going around interviewing people at Davod, and bloggers covering announcements and keynotes to live blogging from some lecture or class right?

While at important events and keynotes one would be interested in live updates from the floor because that's what the event is about (live updates) on some guys lecture no one cares what he did 10 minutes ago and what he's doing now - but the topic as a summary is interesting.

Hebrew comments seem to get messed up so I'll write in english:

Blogs didn't take traditional media out of the game?

Once, in order to keep up do date with tech news, I had to subscribe to PC Magazine and Wired (and Zombit? ;)).

Today I have TechMeme and my Google Reader...

I get more information, in real-time, and customized to my needs and interests.

I don't even read the newspaper anymore because I have YNET - easier to access and more up to date.

Traditional media has to go online. period. Like Yediot did with YNET - you get news and articles in real time with the opportunity to engagde (the notorious talkback, or even write an article and home it gets published) and its free. How can you compete with that?

With application like Microsoft's Times Reader and amazon's Kindle, the end of the printed media is near...

So, why do we still have a printed newspaper?

Because my mom hasn't got a clue as to what RSS is. However, she already learned to use Skype and Messenger and recently got on Facebook - to track all her son's updates (I guess she's a pretty advanced mom, isn't she? ;))

She'll switch to online reading too eventually (and with the right motive).

And Dad? he already prefers the online version of Globes to that weird colored paper that used to arrive every night to our mailbox.

That's progress :)

btw, I'm surprised, a few days ago I wrote about live blogging and you went against it.

Tell me now, isn't live blogging the same as a live report from a journalist, as if from your point of view?

do I need to explain the importance of live report? if so, an official apology might be in place. :)

אני חושב שאתה מרחיק לכת כאשר אתה אומר שהבלוגרים הוציאו את העיתונות המסורתית מהמשחק.

ישנם בלוגרים שפועלים כמו עיתונאים והכוח שלהם גבר בתקופה האחרונה בצורה מאוד משמעותית. מהצד השני ישנם עיתונאים שפועלים יותר ויותר כמו בלוגרים - כותבים בלוג אישי, מעודדים דיון על נושאים בוערים וכו'.

ככל שתגבר החשיפה של הבלוגרים, כך העיתונאים יהיו חייבים להתאים את עצמם למצב שבו יש להם תחרות חזקה מכיוון שאולי לא ציפו לא.
