Become more effective in achieving your goals
I'm currently in the lecture "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", aimed for IT managers (mostly non-developers):
- Society tends to be focused on developing technical skills instead of better behavioral models.
- See-Do-Get Loop: Your actions are affected by your perception, and this leads to results, which in turn affect (again) your perception (feedback loop).
- Therefor it's harder to change "DO" habits because you are fight habits you already have, so the focus should be on paradigm change - changing your perception.
- Seven effective habits:
- Being pro-active - don't react to a situation, but choose where and how to initiate action (don't be led to responses)
- Begin with a defined goal in mind
- Begin with the important stuff
- Win/Win thinking
- Diagnose before your prescribe (try understanding the other before being understood)
- Create synergy
- "Make the saw sharper" - keep working to develop better skills and acquiring new ones
