Git is really great version management system, I personally highly recommended that. But git is not a new, actually it has written many years ago by Linus Torvalds when he looking for a version management system to the Linux kernel project, and then, so as today, that's the highly priority of git, to serve the kernel programmers needs.

By the way, did you try out the SVN system?

My main problem has been that I need some "space" between the books. I might be able to plough through a book in high speed, but unless I go back and "organize" the knowledge in my head, it gets deleted by the next book.

I don't know why, but reading 2-3 books simultaneously does not have the same negative impact as reading books cover to cover very close to each other.
