I meant to post this a while ago but... better late than never...

Saying thank you for people who support you within a newsgroup is really appreciated but that's a part of what newsgroups are for. But getting help from senior people at Microsoft is highly appreciated!

Especially when eventually it appeared to be a support issue...

Few months ago I had a problem with the AJAX Toolkit. For some reason it didn't work. I couldn't find any explanation why. Not even a clue.

Feeling helpless I turned to my last option: I wrote a mail to Scott Guthrie (who's among other teams also in charge of the ASP.NET team). I wasn't sure I will get an answer.

Scott not only answered. He also got Shawn involved in my issue and after a few iterations we managed to overcome the problem which, as mentioned earlier, was an installation problem...
