     שיפור בביצועים של צד לקוח (למשל, JavaScript) הכרחי כיום, במיוחד כששימוש ב-AJAX הולך ומתרחב.

אני קראתי כתבה Browser Wars: WebKit Regains Lead Over Chrome ושם ציינו אתר שמבצע מדידה לדפדפנים לגבי עד כמה הם מהירים ב-JavaScript. שלושת הדפדפנים מותקנים אצלי – כך שלא יכולתי לפספס את התענוג. הרצתי את המדידות על שלושתם והנה התוצאות:

MS IE 8 Beta 2                                             10582.0ms +/- 2.2%

Google Chorme 0.2.149.30                             2304.4ms +/- 1.7%

FireFox 3.0.1                                                 3791.4ms +/- 7.6%

ואו הבדל הבדל. אני רק מקווה שזה בגלל הבטא – הגרסה הסופית תהיה מה זה מהירה…. אחרת כרום שכבר לקח בין 3-7% מפלח השוק (לפי מקורות שונים) ייקח עוד יותר. לא נעים.

מה שכן מוסיף לי גאווה זה שיכולתי למדוד את הביצועים ב-IE8 עם ה-Profiler שבא בצורה מובנית:

הגדג’ט הזה כבר הראה לי דברים בעבר  אבל כזו תמונה עוד לא ראיתי…

אז מה זה אומר? יקנו תכנה פחות? ירדו המחירים על התכנה? יסגרו פרויקטי עתירי תקציב? פיטורים?

     היתה לי תחושה הזו כל הזמן בבטן אך לא היה לי מספיק אומץ להגיד את זה. קראתי את הפוסט של William Oellermann וקיבלתי אומץ להגיד את זה - נראה כי אכן SOA מת. אז מה בא במקום? מה ה-TLA הבא? SaaS לא תפס, S+S נראה חם, אבל Cloud Computing נראה הדבר הכי סקסי. אפילו גרטנר אוהבים את זה (מצאתי את זה דרך Steve Clayton)":

Cloud computing — As companies seek to consume their IT services in the most cost-effective way, interest is growing in drawing a broad range of services (for example, computational power, storage and business applications) from the "cloud," rather than from on-premises equipment. Many types of technology providers are aligning themselves with this trend, with the result that confusion and hype will continue for at least another year before distinct submarkets and market leaders emerge.
