Silverlight TreeView Control

I've created new Silverlight Control - this time it is TreeView control.

SilverlightTree.jpg

This time TeeView Templatable & Stylable, supports TreeNodes Drag and Drop. Still not support DataBinding.

All binaries, sources and samples at Codeplex.

Comments/suggestions is welcome.

Enjoy,

Alex

# re: Silverlight TreeView Control

Thanks for this control. I was looking for a couple of months for free version of Silverlight TreeView , as for some reason Silverlight team doesn't have it on a roadmap , and finally there is something to have a look at. Does it require latest SL2 beta 2 and respective VS2008 tools update to compile ?

Ideally I need multi-column treeview with cell wrap( variable row height )  and variable structure column ( expansion/collapsion image not necessarily in column 1 ). There are quite a few controls like that in .Net winforms  and prior to that I used COM exGrid. Do you think initial code allows to be extended in this direction ?

Michael:

Yes, it requires SL2B2.

Regarding multi-column with cell wrapping, etc. - I think yes, since TreeView itself has ContentControl to host its TreeViewNode collection. Anyway, this is open source project so you free to modify it any direction you want.

If you want to take a part in its developing or interested to submit your changes to codeplex, contact me (blogs.microsoft.co.il/.../contact.aspx) and we will discuss it.

Alex

Alex,

I've already asked at CodePlex, out of curiosity, why original code was for WPF , there seems to be native TreeView there, also my understanding ( I am novice)  based on example I browsed from Microsoft ListView may be presented tree like with respective template.

Michael,

Silverlight 2 ListBox also could be tamplated to TreeView-like UI, but I decided to produce specialized controls (for my own needs).

In addition original code was not for WPF and was not ported from WPF but it doesn't means, that ideas from .NET reference source code wasn't used in developing of this control.
