Silverlight 3.0 basic wish list

I don’t know about you, but I have a small wish list to Silverlight 3.0 ( considering the Beta 1 ) – two more additions :

  1. A Built-In support to RTL , in something like an “encoding” property of the XAML file – Just like in HTML ( current RTL is somewhat problematic :s )
  2. Version selection , like this :

    SilverlightVS

NOTICE: This is version of the Silverlight that you choose , NOT of the .NET Framework ! which is just like saying “I want to install more than one Silverlight Toolkit, Side By Side, just like in .NET Framework”

Ah Adlai,

You're so right about RTL and framework versions...

I'm about to prepare some posts for Silverlight-RTL library (Angel + Khason) implementation, until the official support for RTL we'll suffer from many RTL problems (like in Flash).

In addition, I'll say that mine list is much-much bigger, e.g.: REAL 3D (not just Z-transition), right font anti-aliasing, Stable Data-Grid, databinding improvements, more video formats/codecs and etc...

Hi guys :)

I'd like to comment the wish list you have here...

Adlai - you 2nd wish most probably will come true, you just have to wait for the Beta of XXYYYY (I assume you know what).

Regarding RTL - we will have to use Tamir's stuff for some more time... I used it and it is quite good.

Now Maxim wishes: font improvements is in current Beta of SL3, databinding improvements is also there... Regarding "more video formats/codecs" - you have H264 & MPEG4 support as a part of SL3 Beta + now you could write your own codecs and plug them to SL3 app. Is in not enought? ;)

Regards,

Alex

Hi Adi,

Good feedback. We're definitely listening to your input in those areas.

I honestly don't want to maintain a 3rd party project If we can put it in the framework :)

BTW, it's "Silverlight 2" and "Silverlight 3" not "Silverlight 2.0" or "Silverlight 3.0". We don't have *.1 or *.5 versions :)
