Sandcastle page at MSDN

The Sandcastle Team has announced the Launch of Sandcastle page at MSDN. it seems that last year when Sandcastle was released to the community, the community has requested a website for Sandcastle, well here it is http://www.sandcastledocs.com. The WebSite should provide the usual downloads, blogs, links etc. Unfortunately the website is NOT part of Microsoft.com as well as it has a different branding from Visual Studio products !
For those who are interested in playing with SandCastle here's the June CTP Download

InfoCard Login in PHP

Mike Jones has seemed to take two things and put together:

  1. The Information Card new Logo
  2. The HTML Kit which he has built

... and put them together, so here's the result

Microsoft released CardSpace HTML & ASP.NET 2.0 Kits

CardSpace has "go live" licence , but no resources or components. That had just changed - Mike Jones has announced the availability, to the public, of two very useful kits:

  1. ICardClientKit.zip is the HTML kit. The HTML Kit is a "platform-independent JavaScript and CSS code that can be used to dynamically detect client Information Card support and tailor the web site’s interactions with the user accordingly". This kit is usefull would be usefull for WebSites which are based on JAVA, PHP, Python ... etc.
  2. ICardAspNetKit.zip is as the ASP.NET 2.0 Kit. The ASP.NET Kit is a base sample of an intergration for an ASP.NET Role/Membership based site. Take notice that in the Windows 2008 the release of ADFS v2 would be available ( ADFS v2 should contain an intergration to the CardSpace Identity Cards BUILT-IN ), so if you're using Active Directory File System as your authentication method the intergration wait a bit.

Thus CardSpace joins the .NET Framework 3.0 as an equal in the Visual Studio ToolBox

Information Card has a Logo

Richard Turner has announced "Announcing the Information Card Icon". Due to the fact that currently OpenID is also considered an Information Card, you should take the note into consideration "This icon is NOT a Windows CardSpace Icon. It's an icon to symbolize that a site or application supports Information Cards, regardless of the identity selector used to submit an Information Token associated with any Information Card. ".

LINQ Cookbook

Due to the fact that the VB Team was involved in the construction of LINQ, it would more then obvious that they would construct a LINQ Cookbook. I would keep the link for future use ....

ASP.NET CardSpace Control

Dominick Baier seems to finish his Feature Complete Version of the ASP.NET CardSpace Control , which is now at version 2.5. The post includes also a small documentation which would help to incorperate the control into your application.

Microsoft ESB Guidance CTP2

Microsoft ESB Guidance at CodePlex has updated to CTP2

      Overview

The Microsoft ESB Guidance provides architectural guidance, patterns, practices, and a set of BizTalk Server and .NET components to simplify the development of an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) on the Microsoft platform and to allow Microsoft customers to extend their own messaging and integration solutions.

One of the major changes for me is the fact that the core components have been updated to the R2 release of BizTalk Server ;)

MOSS VPC Available for Download!

In one of my previous posts MOSS 2007 VirtualPC how to create a VPC of MOSS2007 using evaluation editions. It seems that microsoft has heard the need of begining developers and System Admistrators regarding the matter so they announced the availability of a MOSS VPC (Inc 2007 client) in the VHD Program run by the Server Virtualization team and available for download on Microsoft.com. The VPC includes the MOSS Product Evaluation Guide (on the desktop) and is configured so the walk through at the end of the guide works with the image.

Windows CardSpace != WCS

Windows CardSapce is unique , thus even by it's name. "Windows CardSapce™" is the official name of CardSpace and needs to be mentioned only once in the begining of an article, after that it can be referenced as CardSpace.
Unlike it's colleges to the .NET 3.0 Framework the WF , WCF and WPF - it's not labeled as a Foundation , niether can it be short handed as WCS, why ? for starters WCS seems to stand for Windows Color System. If you think about it , sometimes it's good to be unique and shortning the name would do no justice to the name.
Not only that, but I have a feeling that unlike the others it has an unofficial mascot - the raccoon. Fact Vittorio Bertocci  both in his book The cover of our book "Understanding Windows CardSpace" and in his post added pictures to "Credentials vs. Identity; Authentication vs.... what?" use the racoon as a symbol.
In the end, because CardSpace is a new technology and a relatively new concept for many, Microsoft is trying to establish CardSpace in people's minds as an association with a safer online identity experience than users are currently exposed to. Therefore, using the name CardSpace will clearly help establish that.

CardSpace Control for ASP.NET

There are two known people who worked/are working on a CardSpace Control for ASP.NET.

Dominick has posted recently TWO posts Updated CardSpace Control for ASP.NET and Another Update to the CardSpace Control for ASP.NET.

While Christian seemed to be happy with his version of Visual Studio 2005 ToolBox for Windows CardSpace. Not only that, but he helps you in the transition by showing you the Visual Studio ToolBox completed ASP.NET 2.0 CardSpace Workflow and Integrate identity in CommunityServer 2007 with the help of Windows CardSpace .If you weren't convised here are demo videos: Demo Video: Integrate Windows CardSpace inside CommunityServer 2007 and Demo Video: Use Windows CardSpace and the Visual Studio ToolBox for Windows CardSpace.

Both options look good, but I let you decide.
