Mr. Kamal Hathi on SQL Server 2012, PowerPivot, SharePoint and Azure

Monday, April 30, 2012

In a short newspaper article a friend stumbled upon, he saw that Mr. Kamal Hathi, Director of Program Management at Microsoft is coming to Israel for the Think Next Convention. It was also detailed that Mr. Hathi was responsible for the SQL Server Business Intelligence technologies. As the time of the convention drew nearer, I felt more and more interested in trying to catch him for an interview about SQL Server 2012. At the end, I had to finish my questions quickly as Mr. Hathi did not stay till the convention, but I did feel like I had quite...

New videos and slides on SQL Server 2008 R2 and PowerPivot

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Two big resources on SQL Server 2008 R2 and PowerPivot just came out lately. The first is the videos and slides from BI track in TechEd 2010 in New Orleans. You can download all the slides and video recordings on the sessions that you want (and you can use the "list" view for quick and easy access). This one is free for everyone.Another resource that is free, but requires registration, is 24 Hours of PASS. Registration to PASS is free and very recommended as it gives you access to a lot more information and resources. 24 hours of PASS...

Donald Farmer on SQL Server 2008 R2, SharePoint and PowerPivot

Monday, June 14, 2010

If you're following this blog, then you know that Sunday, May 30th 2010, I went to the SQL & BI Data Platform convention held in Tel Aviv. Specifically, I went to Mr. Donald Farmer's seminar on Data Integration in Large Organizations. I did live blogging from most of the event, though actually, I didn't manage to blog about the last part of it, because I was preparing for something that was pretty big for me.... I'll start over. When I first heard Mr. Farmer was coming to lecture in Israel, I was like "What? Really? Like, Donald Farmer? Like THE...

Free SQL Server and BI webinars from PASS

Monday, August 10, 2009

Via Dan English’s blog, I’ve learned that Pass is offering a day of BI webinars for free! The Pass Convention itself is scheduled for November in Seattle. As this year there will no dedicated BI conference from Microsoft, Pass is the conference for you to get updated on all your BI needs. This is also why I was very happy to hear they’re also offering a day of free sessions with very well known speakers. The sessions are mostly SQL Server 2008 oriented, but I believe you’ll find more than enough information there even if you’re using SQL Server 2005....

BI and SQL Server Videos

Monday, September 15, 2008

I came across two very interesting web sites lately, both of which are a great source for good webcasts. The first site is Learn Microsoft BI which has all sorts of video on BI projects and how to develop them using SSAS. There has actually just been a first video on PerformancePoint Server as well. The site requires registration, but is well worth it. The other site is SQL Server Videos which targets more DBAs and developers. Having done just a few webcasts and knowing how much work goes into it, I am in complete awe of what's given in both...
